By placing the lens behind the iris and in front of the natural crystalline lens, PC phakic IOLs maintain corneal integrity, provide superior optical quality, and preserve accommodation. Mastering this technique expands a surgeon’s refractive portfolio, enhances safety and predictability for challenging cases, and allows better long-term outcomes for patients unsuitable for LASIK or PRK.
